We are hiring a housekeeper/groundskeeper to join our team! This position will clean the common areas of the buildings and vacant apartments and assist with daily grounds maintenance at a property in Richmond, Virginia. This position is full time; Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm.

This position will work to ensure that interior and exterior property areas meet company safety and physical appearance standards. Must promote good public relations with residents, co-workers, and company staff through great service-oriented attitude and resident trust. Always displays a friendly and courteous attitude towards residents and other employees. Coordinates work objectives with the on-site manager daily including common areas, apartment turns, and grounds maintenance. Ability to make independent decisions and also follow instructions.

Housekeeper/ Groundskeeper

Classification: Non Exempt

Reports to Maintenance Supervisor

Description of Position

  • The Grounds/Housekeeper will be responsible for the removal of trash and for the cleanliness of all common areas.
  • The Grounds/Housekeeper will assist in apartment turns and other basic maintenance functions in vacant apartments as directed.
  • The Grounds/Housekeeper will perform and/or assist with special projects assigned by supervisors.

Goals of Position

  • Deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Work to ensure that interior and exterior community areas meet company safety and physical appearance standards.
  • Build and maintain residents’ confidence and foster good relations.
  • Prepare apartment turns in a timely manner.

Knowledge, Skill And Experience Requirements

  • Must pay attention to detail.
  • Must be able to follow directions and work unsupervised.
  • Must have a high level of integrity, be trustworthy and hardworking.
  • Must exhibit a willingness to learn and participate in maintenance functions.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Complete uniform must be worn when working on any managed property.
  • Maintain a high work safety attitude including the proper use of PPE when necessary.
  • Perform custodial work as required, including sweeping, painting, etc.
  • Assist in apartment turnover as directed.
  • Help keep grounds and streets free of litter.
  • Must maintain both a clean and neat uniform and personal appearance.
  • Work with residents to maintain good property relations.
  • Perform routine cleaning of breezeways and laundry facilities as directed.
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager in any activity that becomes necessary for the smooth operation of the property.
  • Call Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor if emergency, sick or going to be out of work.
  • Monitor grill and picnic areas. Clean as needed.
  • Clean vacant apartments, office and other common areas as required.
  • Report any defective or burned out light bulbs or security lights to Maintenance Supervisor. Replace as directed.
  • Additional tasks as requested or assigned.

While performing the above responsibilities and assignments, you may be required to perform tasks that will require some physical exertion. You must be able to see to a degree that safety is not compromised. You must be able to communicate and be understood.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in housekeeping/ grounds or other related fields (6+ months)
  • Ability to handle physical workload
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physical, drug, and background screenings
  • Valid state driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Vehicle to use at work daily
  • Availability for overtime as needed for emergencies.
