Job summary

This is a position assigned to the pulp department at Georgia-Pacific's Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA. It focuses on working with, monitoring, and inspecting our systems, operating on a rotating 12-hour shift that includes days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.

The pay starts at $23 per hour with competitive benefits and no top out range on pay. The mill operates 24/7 with a rotating schedule and opportunities for overtime, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Experience using a computer, tablet, or smart device.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment or completion of a post-high school manufacturing/industrial program.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment to defined standards and product specification targets.
  • Monitor centerlines and entry into computer control systems.
  • Daily inspections and sampling from fiber systems checking brightness, quality, and dirt count.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on equipment to optimize production.
  • Perform basic asset care duties including routine preventative maintenance and cleaning of the work area.
  • Work as a team to help meet or exceed production, waste, quality, and safety goals.
  • Operate and/or work around mobile equipment.
  • Maintain safety rules and wear required PPE.
  • Perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours daily in a loud industrial environment.

This is a position assigned to the pulp department. This position is primarily focused on working with, monitoring, and inspecting our systems. A Tech II-Fiber will work a rotating 12-hour shift that includes days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.

The pay starts at $23 per hour with competitive benefits and no top out range on pay.

Our Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA began operations in October 1986 and is considered a world‑class operation in the industry. Five of the world’s 12 largest tissue paper machines reside at the facility. Our operation is designed to produce products primarily from recycled fiber. We have over 50 converting lines that make the tissue, towel, and napkin products in our retail and away from home markets. Schedule

The Mill operates 24/7 and 365 days per year. Therefore, our mill operates using a 12-hour rotating schedule that includes holidays, weekends, and overtime. Our rotating schedule allows for a regular 14 days off every 4-week period.See example below:

DS=Day Shift 6:50 A.M.-7:10 P.M.

NS= Night Shift 6:50 P.M.-7:10 A.M.

O = Off

WK 1: DS,DS,DS,DS,O,O,O

WK 2: O,O,O,O, NS,NS,NS

WK 3: NS, O,O,O, DS,DS,DS

WK 4: O, NS,NS,NS, O,O,O

What You Will Do
  • Operate equipment to defined standards and product specification targets

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience using a computer, tablet, or smart device
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, agricultural, or military environment OR completion of post-high school education in a manufacturing/industrial-centered program
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment
  • Experience working in a paper/pulp manufacturing environment
  • Experience working a rotating shift
  • Forklift experience including loading and unloading trailers
