Job summary

Midstate Radiology Associates is seeking a Per Diem MRI Tech Aide to support our Norwich and Mystic Imaging locations. The role is on-call/as needed, with weekday and weekend availability preferred.

Compensation aligns with qualifications and experience, starting between $20.00 and $25.30 per hour. The successful candidate will work under staff technologists, assist in modalities within the radiology department, and follow established safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

  • Required: high school diploma or equivalent, CPR certification, and at least 1 year radiology experience.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and patient care guidelines applicable to radiology.
  • Ability to follow department policies and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in radiology department under supervision of staff technologist.
  • Input data into RIS and track procedures for accurate charges.
  • Maintain equipment and work area; report hazards or breakdowns.
  • Rotate as needed and support patient care from intake to discharge.
  • Communicate with patients, staff, and other units to ensure quality service.
  • Adhere to OSHA, ACR, TJC, and state regulatory requirements.

Salary Range: $20.00 To $25.30 Hourly

Join Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) as a Per Diem MRI Tech Aide at our Norwich and Mystic Imaging locations.

Position Schedule: on call/as needed, weekday and weekend availability preferred.

Compensation: MRA offers competitive starting compensation based on qualifications and experience. The starting pay for this position is between $20.00 and $25.30 an hour.

Job Summary:

Works under the direct supervision of staff technologist. May assist in any modality within the radiology department. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Practices radiation safety through appropriate use of radiation protection devices and adhering to radiation safety standards in order to protect patient and staff and to comply with regulatory agencies and requirements.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisor.
  • Meets the needs of patients with regard to the patient’s age, condition or other special requirements.
  • Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedure in order to capture all charges and other relevant information.
  • Possess computer skills appropriate to meet departmental needs in preparation of reports and correspondence.
  • Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration.

Qualifications Guidelines:

Education Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR certification.
  • At least one year’s experience in a radiology setting.

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge applicable to department technology with specific references to anatomy, medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied to department technology.
  • Patients care standards and requirements.
  • Quality assurance principles and practices.
  • Customer service principles and practices.
  • OSHA principles and practices.
  • TJCstandards of practice.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
  • Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with required workloads.
  • Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
  • Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
  • Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).

Special Conditions:

May be required to rotate on weekend and/or holiday schedule.

May be required to cover ancillary offices, as needed.

OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.

Physical lifting and walking required.
