Job summary

Mohawk Industries, a Fortune 500 global flooring leader, is seeking a dependable forklift operator to support our production lines in Dalton, GA. You’ll operate lift equipment, monitor fiber quality, manage bin levels, and maintain a clean, safe workspace while coordinating with maintenance to troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth running.

This role covers four critical lines: Tearing Line #1, Tearing Line #2, Balers, and the Blend Line.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience operating a lift truck.
  • Strong attention to quality and detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic writing and math skills for downtime reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate four machines: Tearing Line #1, Tearing Line #2, Balers, and Blend Line.
  • Monitor quality of fiber from tearing lines.
  • Monitor fiber levels in finished fiber bins (two bins per card line).
  • Keep area, including machines, clean at all times.
  • When finished bins are full, run fiber to balers and record bale ticket numbers on the production sheet.
  • Break down machines when there is a problem.
  • Work with maintenance to maintain and troubleshoot machines.
  • The two operators share breaks; during that time one operator handles all tasks.

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for four different machines, (Tearing Line #1, Tearing Line #2, Balers, and Blend Line)
  • Monitor quality of the fiber that is being torn by the two tearing lines.
  • Monitor the levels of fiber in the finished fiber bins. (There are two bins for each of the two card lines.)
  • Keep your area clean, including machines, always.
  • When all finished bins are full, the fiber is run to the balers to be baled. The bales are tied with ropes and the bale ticket number is recorded on the Bale production sheet. Bales are stored in the warehouse for future use.
  • Must break down the machines when there is a problem
  • Work with maintenance to maintain machines and trouble shoot.
  • The two operators give each other breaks. This means that during that time one operator is responsible for all tasks at one time.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task.Maintain a detailed down time report (basic writing and math skills).
