Job summary

Mohawk Industries, a Fortune 500 global flooring leader, is seeking an on-site operator in Dalton, GA. You will manage the tearing, baling, and blend lines, monitor fiber quality and bin levels, and ensure clean, safe work areas.

You will support maintenance and cover all responsibilities during breaks, contributing to efficient production. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to multitask while maintaining accurate downtime records.

Qualifications

• Must be capable of operating a lift truck.

• Maintain a detailed downtime report with basic writing and math skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate four machines (Tearing Line #1, Tearing Line #2, Balers, and Blend Line).
• Monitor fiber quality from tearing lines; track fiber levels in bins.
• Keep work area and machines clean; load finished fiber into balers and record bale numbers.
• Coordinate with maintenance to troubleshoot and repair issues; cover all tasks during operator breaks.

What You’ll Do

• Responsible for four different machines, (Tearing Line #1, Tearing Line #2, Balers, and Blend Line)
• Monitor quality of the fiber that is being torn by the two tearing lines.
• Monitor the levels of fiber in the finished fiber bins. (There are two bins for each of the two card lines.)
• Keep your area clean, including machines, always.
• When all finished bins are full, the fiber is run to the balers to be baled. The bales are tied with ropes and the bale ticket number is recorded on the Bale production sheet. Bales are stored in the warehouse for future use.
• Must break down the machines when there is a problem
• Work with maintenance to maintain machines and trouble shoot.
• The two operators give each other breaks. This means that during that time one operator is responsible for all tasks at one time.
