Job summary

Beck's Superior Hybrids in South Dakota is seeking an Intern Part-Time to learn about the organization's marketing and sales activities while supporting field teams.

You will receive training, assist Seed Advisors and dealers, participate in plots, tours, and education meetings, and complete a special internship project with supervision from the Area Team Leader.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; current junior or senior in agriculture-related college.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to prioritize and work independently or in a team.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with common software.
• Knowledge of the agriculture industry and agronomics.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds unassisted.

Responsibilities

• Receive training in agronomic, sales, and internship duties and apply it with a learning attitude.
• Represent Beck's with a positive attitude at events and activities.
• Assist Seed Advisors and dealers with plots, field signing, and transfers.
• Provide field scouting services as assigned and support educational meetings.
• Develop and complete an internship special project and report findings.

Purpose and Scope

This position is responsible for learning about the Beck’s organization and implementing learned knowledge to assist in various marketing and sales activities. This position is responsible for assisting in the promotion and marketing of the company and products as it relates to the sales, management, distribution, collection, and servicing of accounts within an assigned area. This position is authorized to perform the steps necessary to ensure that its responsibilities are met.

Responsibilities

• Receive new employee training, agronomic training, and sales training with a good learning attitude.
• Implement training knowledge to accomplish duties assigned by Area Team Leader.
• Represent Beck’s with a positive attitude at all events and activities.
• Assist and support assigned Seed Advisors and support staff.
• Assist Seed Advisors and dealers in signing fields and plots.
• Evaluate and assist in the maintenance of assigned plots.
• Assist with dealer transfers and returns.
• Gather testimonials from satisfied customers.
• Provide field scouting services as assigned.
• Organize, plan, and recruit for facility tours.
• Assist Seed Advisors staff in organizing and planning educational and informative meetings.
• Motivate and assist dealer network to develop and grow market share.
• Engage in prospecting research, interviews, cold calls, and sales.
• Develop and complete an internship special project as approved by the Intern Program Manager and Area Team Leader.
• Present findings and conclusions of special project to assigned Beck’s staff.
• Report all internship activity to the Area Team Leader or Director of Sales and Marketing on a regular basis.
• Perform other related duties as may be required by the Area Team Leader, Director of Sales and Marketing or Intern Program Manager.

Job Requirements

Education and Training:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current junior or senior in college enrolled in an agriculture related curriculum.

Technical Knowledge:

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Ability to establish priorities, work both independently and as a team member, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
• Basic computer and current software skills.
• Basic understanding of agriculture industry and agronomics
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds unassisted.

Experience:

• Past work experience in agricultural related field or farming.
