Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives and performing assigned tasks, while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
2. Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime as dictated by business needs.
3. Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
   • Thank the Customer
   • Engage with the customer and/or pet
   • Advise on products or services
   • Make it Memorable
4. Perform a variety of duties including operating cash register, merchandise recovery, participating in freight process, completing Plan-o-gram procedures, assembling merchandise, performing janitorial duties, executing price changes, assisting customers with loading, ensuring the safety of live animals, and completing related documentation.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• No experience required; retail and/or pet/live animal knowledge preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Pet/live animal, pet food, pet product knowledge.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution.

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with moderate noise; outdoor areas may have hard surfaces.
• Shifts generally range from 4 to over 8 hours, varying by store.
• Adherence to safety guidelines and training is required.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move quickly and safely throughout the store and outdoor areas.
• Ability to lift or reach merchandise overhead and move merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, and climb ladders frequently.
• Operate store equipment safely and accurately.
• Complete documentation accurately.
