Job summary

The PWHL in Seattle is seeking a Team Massage Therapist to support our professional hockey players with on-site massage, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. The role runs November 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027 as a full-time seasonal contract with on-site duties at home and away games.

You will report to the Head Athletic Trainer, collaborate with the Sports Medicine team, and travel with the team as required.

Qualifications

  • Active state massage license in Washington.
  • Completed minimum standards for training at a board-licensed massage school.
  • 3–5 years of experience in professional sports or high-performance environments.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary sports medicine team.
  • Active professional liability insurance.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR/AED.
  • Ability to lift and relocate a massage table and gear.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season.
  • Based in the United States and eligible to work full-time in the U.S. (visa sponsorship not provided).

  • Provide on-site massage therapy treatments for athletes on practice days, off days, and at home and away games.
  • Maintain clear, timely communication of clinical findings to the medical team.
  • Assist the Sports Medicine Team with travel preparation and on-site support.
  • Maintain a hygienic, organized, and professional treatment environment.
  • Comply with league medical policies and scope-of-practice regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Seattle Torrent is seeking a Team Massage Therapist to support the delivery of high-quality, integrated medical care focused on injury prevention, immediate response, rehabilitation, and overall player wellness. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, this individual works collaboratively within the integrated medical team to provide massage therapy services and soft tissue management for professional players at home and on the road. This is a full-time seasonal contract role running November 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027. This posting is for an existing vacancy. The compensation range for this 7-month contract position is $45,000 to $50,000 USD.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site massage therapy treatments for athletes on practice days, off days, and at home and away games under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication regarding any clinical findings that may require further assessment by the medical team.
  • Assist the Sports Medicine Team with day-to-day operations including player preparation, bench setup, and hydration.
  • Assist the Sports Medicine Team with travel preparation and travel with the team as required throughout the season.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records in accordance with league and team standards.
  • Maintain a hygienic, organized, and professional treatment environment.
  • Comply with all league medical policies, emergency action plans, and scope-of-practice regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Active state massage license in Washington.
  • Completed minimum standards for training and curriculum at a board-licensed massage school.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in professional sports or high-performance environments.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary sports medicine team.
  • Active professional liability insurance.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR/AED.
  • Ability to lift and carry a massage table and other team gear across longer distances, including airports.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season, including home games, designated practices, and team travel.
  • This position is based in the United States. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The PWHL does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience in elite team sport or professional hockey.
  • Experience traveling with professional or high-performance teams.
  • Wide breadth of training in different massage and manual techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy.
  • Passion for women's hockey and/or women's sports.
Flexibility & Travel

This is a full-time on-site contract role requiring flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the season. The Massage Therapist will be expected to travel with the team as required. Schedules will be created on a monthly basis to the best of the team's ability.
