Location: UK Remote | Salary: £32,200 - £40,750 + an additional £5,004 per annum / £417 per month allowance for overnight working + Stock Options + Benefits

Role

Our Financial Crime Team is at the heart of how we protect our bank and our customers. We are looking for night owls with extensive people management experience to support our Overnight team, working 12.30am – 9am, as they complete a diverse range of fraud and financial crime tasks. This role is key to ensuring that we keep our customers safe at all times. The Overnight team works best when there is a holistic understanding of threats, with all financial crime and fraud work tackled as one team with multi-skilled individuals. The ideal candidate should display a robust blend of Financial Crime expertise and proven leadership ability.

Key responsibilities involve leading and developing a team, coaching on technical financial crime tasks, handling escalations, driving performance improvements, maintaining service levels, feeding insights to leadership, embedding changes, and upholding a strong control environment.

What you’ll do
  • Manage the personal and professional development of approximately 11 Financial Crime Investigators
  • Foster an empathetic, high-performance culture
  • Provide technical coaching, feedback, and advice on financial crime tasks
  • Handle first-level technical escalations from Investigators
  • Analyze and drive improvements in team performance and report insights to the Operations Manager
  • Monitor and maintain service level adherence for the team’s work
  • Aggregate feedback from the team and share it to inform business change
  • Communicate and embed change within the team
  • Contribute to a strong control environment by minimising breaches and risk events
  • Review complaints attributed to the team and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct job interviews for Financ ial Crime Investigators and contribute to hiring decisions
  • Chair employee relations cases and make decisions aligned with Monzo’s values
  • Drive high engagement across the team despite atypical hours
Qualifications & Experience
  • Recent experience conducting financial crime investigations in an operational setting with subject matter expertise
  • Confidence handling escalations and providing technical coaching on Financial Crime
  • Holding, or actively working towards, the ICA International Advanced Certificate in Anti Money Laundering, or a similar qualification
  • Experience leading teams (not necessarily in financial crime)
  • Clear and inspiring communicator with excellent written and verbal English
  • Empathetic and supportive leadership style
  • Strong prioritisation and risk assessment skills in an operations environment
  • Overnight work experience is a plus; consider how it fits with your lifestyle
