Job description

8450 N. Payne Rd
Suite 300
Indianapolis, IN 46268, USA

New Hope of Indiana is hiring for a full-time Team Leader to supervise two houses within the Supported Living Program. This is a Monday – Friday 8am - 5pm position with some on-call evening and weekend requirements. If you’re looking for a place where you can grow your career while helping people, this is the place.

About Us

We’ve been voted a Top Workplace by IndyStar for the last 8 years in a row and we truly care about our associates at New Hope.

We have been in the Indy community for over 40 years and we remain committed to supporting individuals and families, encouraging them to live their most independent, fulfilling lives. We are making an impact in our communities every day through services for individuals with disabilities and advocacy efforts.

About the Job – Team Leader

Being a Team Leader at New Hope of Indiana is more than a job – for many of our team it’s a calling. You and your staff are the key to our success.

  • You will oversee, train, and develop the Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) assigned to you.
  • You will collaborate with and respond to questions from our residents, their family, and other internal staff or external partners.
  • You will be an advocate for our residents ensuring their medical, emotional, and safety needs are met.
  • You will maintain our residents' finances and funding.
  • You will collaborate with your DSP staff by writing goals and mentoring them to achieve progress.
  • You will participate in an on-call rotation.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining appropriate shift coverage at your sites.
  • You will collaborate with HR to interview & select, evaluate, and manage the disciplinary process for associates on your team.
Our Benefits – the New Hope difference

New Hope recognizes the importance of a work environment that fosters respect, dignity, diversity, teamwork, personal growth, training, and development. We maintain a compassionate culture that supports work/life balance and we believe in the power of our associates. Each associate enjoys benefits including:

  • 403(b) Retirement Plan with Employer Match
  • 100% employer paid short-term/long-term disability
  • 100% employer paid basic life and AD&D insurance
  • Generous Paid Time Off accrual
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee Referral Bonus
What skills make a good Team Leader?
  • Ability to train and mentor DSPs: Because our DSP’s work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who can’t always express themselves in ways that are easy to understand, it’s important to be able to train your staff on ways to remain calm and think through solutions even in stressful moments and support them throughout their career.
  • Dependability, punctuality and ability to be on call: Being on-time is important both for coworkers and for the individuals we support. For most people (whether you have a disability or not!), a routine is key to staying balanced and comfortable. Because this is an exempt position, you must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Observant and intuitive: You will oversee our DSPs. They are the frontline of support for individuals, and often they are able to tell when something isn’t quite right. Even family members or doctors might not be able to notice when something is off, so it’s important that DSPs are trained and supported to make these observations.
  • Interpersonal skills and a strong sense of teamwork: Providing support for another person, sometimes around the clock, is a team-oriented task that requires a lot of coordination and flexibility. Being a Team Leader means being part of a team that must work smoothly and collaboratively for the individuals we serve!
What Qualifications do I need to be a Team Leader?
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of work experience working with adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in a residential home.
  • A valid Indiana Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Proof of current auto insurance.
  • Be willing to use personal vehicle to transport individuals, as needed.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights and weekends, as needed.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility

We’re taking steps to make sure our culture is inclusive and that our processes and practices promote equity for all. We welcome and encourage applications from anyone.
