Position Overview

The Team Leader - Optometric Tech is responsible for assisting the doctor with comprehensive visual and medical exams, office visits, minor procedures, and contact lens follow-ups. The role includes performing preliminary tests, managing electronic medical records, conducting contact lens classes, supporting duties, and post-exam follow-up. Additionally, the leader supports management by training staff, creating and maintaining schedules, managing patient flow, and leading department meetings. Acts as a role model in delivering excellent patient care and exceeding expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet and/or exceed corporate goals through clinical skills and active participation.
• Conduct standardized training for all Optometric Assistants and support team-building exercises aligned with HFO strategies.
• Leverage team members' strengths when assigning tasks.
• Oversee patient flow and coordinate with Optometrists.
• Engage with patients professionally, addressing concerns and questions effectively.
• Lead department and team meetings to promote effective teamwork and goal alignment.
• Create and maintain department schedules.
• Collaborate with management and the Director of Clinical Services to ensure high-quality patient care and timely training.
• Organize and prioritize daily activities efficiently.

Qualifications and Skills

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• At least six months of experience as an Optometric Tech.
• Completion of required training, including HFHS Leadership Charge Training.
• Strong reading, listening, speaking, and basic math skills.
• Preferred: Retail or Hospitality experience, ABOC and NCLE certifications, prior management experience.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Leadership skills and motivation to achieve goals.
• Excellent customer service and team motivation abilities.

Work Environment

• Retail optical setting.
• Evening and weekend hours required.
