Job summary

Alfa Laval Mid Europe GmbH in Richmond, VA is seeking a warehouse supervisor to coordinate daily material handling operations. You will lead a team, assign resources, and ensure accurate picking while collaborating with inventory and production teams.

You will train staff on ERP (Microsoft D365), run startup/handover meetings, review processes, and drive ALPS priorities — Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The role requires 2-4 years logistics and material handling experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2-4 years warehouse logistics experience.
  • 2-4 years material handling equipment experience.
  • Experience with handheld barcode scanners (Zebra preferred).
  • Experience with BOMs, pick lists, and manufacturing documents.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred).
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Self-starter, organized and team oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of material handlers to ensure parts picking is accurate and timely.
  • Coordinate daily plan and allocate resources to meet daily goals.
  • Resolve discrepancies, train team members, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Train staff on ERP systems and SOPs; drive process improvements.
  • Drive ALPS priorities: Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost; run daily meetings.
  • Run startup/handover meetings and participate in improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with inventory and production teams; liaise with support functions and Team Manager.

Job Summary:

Coordinate and support the daily plan for the material handling team. Assign resources as needed to meet daily goals. Resolve discrepancies efficiently, train team members, and do root cause analysis/problem solving as needed.

  • Lead a team of material handlers to ensure parts picking is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Collaborate closely with other warehouse/logistics teams to resolve issues.
  • Train team members to a high level of ERP system competency.
  • Review, plan, coordinate, and support the daily work of the department with a continuous focus on our ALPS priorities – Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Drive daily ALPS Performance Meetings and weekly Improvement Meetings in the dept.
  • Run the daily shift startup/handover meetings.
  • Participate in projects and improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in all aspects of the Problem Resolution Process to help determine the root causes of problems and create sustainable solutions.
  • Provide departmental training.
  • Write and audit SOPs as required, and drive improvements to the processes.
  • Own the material handling activities in coordination with the production team.
  • Collaborate closely with the inventory team to resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Serve as liaison between the dept., support functions, and Team Manager.
  • Ability to multi-task, self-manage, and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you know:
  • You have a high school diploma or GED and 2 - 4 years previous warehouse logistics experience required.
  • 2 - 4 years previous material handling equipment experience required.
  • Experience with handheld barcode scanners (Zebra preferred).
  • Experience working with Bill of Materials, pick lists, and other manufacturing documents.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred).
  • Attention to detail.

Physical Factors
  • Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, kneeling, and equipment use): Ability to lift 45 pounds occasionally.
  • Certified Equipment operation (Forklift, Order Picker) Ability to stand for majority of the work day.
  • Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure): Some hazardous material handling required.
