Job summary

Starkey Hearing Technologies in Eden Prairie, MN, is seeking a Team Leader Manufacturing to guide the Custom Production Teams. You will set expectations, develop technicians’ skills, and drive improvements through leadership and training.

This role supports domestic and international facilities and aligns with our corporate initiatives. We offer 4 weeks of PTO, 401(k), an onsite wellness clinic and cafeteria, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and 2-3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of audiometric data desired.
  • Knowledge of hearing aid product and process required.
  • Knowledge of Starkey computer systems required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Custom Production Teams as assigned.

  • Review metrics with Production Manager and drive improvements.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and kaizen initiatives.

  • Audit finished product and develop audit schedules.

Starkey is hiring a Team Leader Manufacturing at its global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. This position is responsible for managing the Production Teams. Develop technician's skills to fill the right "seat" on the team. Support team growth and improvement through communication, leadership, and training. This position will also support domestic sub-facilities, international sub-facilities, and service centers by building product aligning with our corporate initiatives. Responsibilities
  • Manage the Custom Production Teams as assigned.
  • Establish expectations for the Team and follow-up at regular intervals. Set short- and long-term goals for each and provide the support to achieve those goals. Provide feedback on performance on a regular basis. Recognize top performers. Recognize the need to take corrective actions on poor performers provide information to the Production Manager.
  • Monitor Team key measures: TRR (total return rates), 4-day service levels, productivity (minutes per unit), overtime and Internal rework. Drive appropriate action when measures fall outside their desired operating range.
  • Review the team measures on a regular basis, with the Production Manager. Recognize favorable and unfavorable trends in the information and take corrective actions to bring the results back to the appropriate levels.
  • Total Return Rates (New, Remake, and/or Repair). Review TRR over time (trend). Identify areas for improvement. Drive action for improvement.
  • Four-day Service Levels. Review service levels and manage WIP (work in process) levels. Identify & eliminate bottlenecks in the flow process, adjust schedules to match work levels, identify aging orders.
  • Productivity and Overtime. Adjust schedules to match work levels, scheduling overtime or reduced work hours as needed.
  • Work quality back into the process by reviewing rework rates, emphasizing TQC points, identifying cross-training opportunities, and ensuring appropriate staff levels. Work with the Technicians on tools and techniques in reducing in-house rework.
  • Support the Training, Final Quality Control, and expediting department/functions.
  • Support the mission Training and FQC groups.
  • Support Trainings' functions: mentor technicians, help the transition from training to the team.
  • Help support steps to incorporate FQC back into the manufacturing process. Use team quality results to set the inspection level (high, medium, low or audit only).
  • Understand the manufacturing cost to produce.
  • Support Production Manager in reducing departmental costs. Help reduce cost by reducing in-house rework.
  • Communicate to Team Members on Product Information, Processes, Quality, and personal development.
  • Conduct meetings with team members on new product introductions, product changes, process and material changes, quality initiatives and results sharing. Meetings can be formal, informal, group, select individuals, or one-on-one.
  • Support manufacturing of Sub-Facilities and Service Centers orders.
  • Provide manufacturing support to sub facilities, service centers, and manufacturing partners utilizing key production staff.
  • Support and Promote Lean Manufacturing.
  • Understand the Lean process and participate in Lean events. Identify opportunities for kaizen events, provide the resources to participate in the events, and assess the final outcome at the management review.
  • Audit finished product on a regular schedule to ensure product quality is maintained.
  • Develop an audit schedule and review product from your Team on a regular basis
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

Salary and Other Compensation:

The target rate for this position is between $XXXXX to $XXXX/year. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
