Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA, LLC is seeking a Team Leader - Machine Shop at our Calvert, AL facility to oversee precision machining operations and lead a crew of skilled machinists, ensuring parts meet exact specifications and deadlines.

You will guide setup and operation of CNC machines, mentor staff, enforce safety and quality standards, coordinate with supervisors, review drawings, and drive continuous improvements in throughput and tooling efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 4 years of machining experience required.
• Leadership experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs setup and operation of CNC machines.
• Operates manual machines such as lathes, mills, and profiles.
• Monitors machine to ensure proper operation and accuracy.

Our Calvert, AL facility is current r ecruiting to fill the role of TEAM LEADER Machine Shop

The Team Leader will spend more than 90% of work hours performing plating tasks similar to those of other group members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs setup, and operation of computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines
• May also operate manual machines such as lathes, mills, and profile machines
• Work is diversified, and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances
• Monitors work to ensure that machine is operating properly
• Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts, and in making repairs to existing parts and equipment.
• Requires extensive knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes
• Determines dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts, or descriptions of parts
• Computes cutting speeds, feed rates and dimensions
• Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations
• Responsible for rigging and transporting large parts and equipment by crane
• Inspects machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications
• Performs housekeeping of machine and work area
• Ensure the safety and productivity of employees
• Receive written and verbal instruction, direction and training from Supervisor or other Senior Managers and disseminate this information to plating employees.
• Lead troubleshooting.
• Train employees and may participate in performance appraisal process.
• Operate from a broad scope of responsibility to maintain equipment deadlines and to ensure quality standards are met
• Enable effective communications between management and operators.
• Participate in risk assessments, near miss and incident investigations
• Enforce procedures and policies
• May assist in the hiring process
• Serve as point of contact for customer and/or vendors

Required Education/Experience -

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- A minimum of 4 years of machining experience required

Leadership experience preferred, but not required
