Job summary

Rocket Money is seeking a Team Leader, Engineering for Financial Connections. You’ll guide a small, impact-focused team that owns account linking, data reliability, and scalable architecture.

You’ll partner with product managers, other engineering leaders, and operations to deliver reliable financial data experiences to millions of users. You’ll drive engineering excellence with hands-on leadership, RFCs, code reviews, and coaching to grow engineers while balancing new features with system

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience shipping production systems, ideally with Node/TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Postgres.
• Experience leading an engineering team for at least 1 year.
• Strong empathy, curiosity, and ability to tailor leadership to each engineer.

Responsibilities

• Be the face of Account Linking and foster strong relationships with other leaders, PMs, and ops.
• Set the technical direction and guide architectural decisions for scalable systems.
• Champion reliability, data quality, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Drive delivery by owning quarterly roadmaps and clearing blockers.
• Stay technical through RFCs, code reviews, and collaborative problem solving.
• Coach and grow the team with regular 1:1s and growth plans.

Team Leader, Engineering - Financial Connections

The Financial Connections team helps Rocket Money members see their finances clearly and confidently. We build and maintain the integrations that connect our members’ financial accounts, providing reliable access to accurate, up-to-date balances, transactions, and other financial data. Our platform provides the foundation of data that enables Rocket Money to help our members understand and manage their finances.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:

Lead a small team that has a direct impact on our business. You’ll:

• Be the face of Account Linking.Be an advocate and ambassador for Account Linking, and foster strong working relationships with other engineering leaders, product managers, and operations team members. Drive collaboration, communicate capabilities and constraints, and help teams use financial account data effectively to unlock innovation for our users, team members, and business.
• Set the technical direction.Work with the team to guide architectural decisions and identify investments that unlock new capabilities and keep our platform scalable and maintainable. Establish a clear direction for how our systems should evolve.
• Champion reliability and data quality.Define how we measure the health of account connections and the completeness, accuracy, and freshness of financial data. Lead improvements in monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis to prevent recurring issues and build trust in the data our members and partner teams rely on.
• Drive delivery.Own delivery of the team’s commitments and drive execution of a quarterly roadmap that balances new capabilities, reliability, and long-term system health. Make decisions, clear blockers, communicate progress and risks, and work with Product to adjust priorities when necessary.
• Stay close to the work.Stay technically engaged through RFCs, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving. Help engineers evaluate tradeoffs and unblock implementation while empowering them to own execution. Explore developments in agentic software development and help the team adopt practices that improve the quality and pace of delivery.
• Support and grow the team.Provide ongoing coaching and actionable feedback, hold regular 1:1s, and deliver performance reviews. Build individualized growth plans that match each engineer's strengths and ambitions, and create opportunities to put those plans into practice.
• You're anengineer who leads engineers.An engineer by trade, you have 8+ years of experience shipping production systems — ideally with some combination of Node/TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Postgres (or similar relational database).
• You’ve supported external integrations anddriven operational excellence on platform teams.You’ve supported large data sets in production and used observability and root-cause analysis to improve reliability and data quality.
• You have at leastone year of experience leadingan engineering team, and a track record of leading senior ICs
• Youlead with empathy and curiosity.You know when to lean into technical decisions and when to trust engineers to own implementation, tailoring your management style to each person.
• Youdrive outcomes with pragmatic judgment.You turn ambiguous problems into achievable plans, communicate risks and tradeoffs clearly, and partner with Product to keep the team focused on meaningful results.
• You bringattention to detail, organization, and follow-throughto complex systems. You make system health, issues, and ownership visible, communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical partners, and follow problems through to resolution.
• Experience with FinTech or consumer appsis a plus, but not a requirement.

Additional information: Salary range of $150 ,000 - $200,000 /year + bonus + benefits. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
