Job summary

Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative in Clackamas, OR is seeking a Plant Team Lead to coordinate the processing line, supervise staff, and ensure safety and efficiency across operations.

You will train and guide team members, operate forklifts and equipment with required certifications, and maintain orderly production flow while upholding OSHA standards and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Forklift training certification required.

Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $21.00 - $23.10 Hourly

Summary

Coordinate the activity of a processing team. Responsible for maintaining safety standards among team members, achieving defined performance goals, and accurate accounting of products unloaded from trailers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with interviewing and selecting qualified applicants for job openings.
  • Supervise a team of employees.
  • Train, direct, evaluate, discipline, and recommend termination of team members as needed.
  • Motivate team members to achieve trailer-processing goals.
  • Direct activities within assigned teams to maintain order, cleanliness and efficient flow.
  • Ensure that all team members are efficiently and safety completing their tasks while staying actively engaged during work hours.
  • Always maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Safely operate plant equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, yard goat, company trucks, dock plates, balers, etc.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, aerial lifts – all with required certifications.
  • Count bags on completed racks, log on load sheet and pull or otherwise maneuver rack to designated processing areas.
  • Identify types of commodities and full product, count and log.
  • Pull empty racks to Box Trucks and Green Bag routes.
  • Ensure that the trailer-to-baler process is always followed and executed consistently.
  • Communicate trailer load-out needs for forklift operators and verify that they are done accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Identify and report all maintenance items to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to proper personal protective equipment (PPE) standards, such as wearing safety glasses, use of hearing and hand protection, and wearing high visibility clothing when required.
  • Adhere to all OSHA Safety Standards and OBRC policies such as Lock Out Tag Out.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, not required or any equivalent combination of training, experience and education to perform duties.
  • Complete forklift training class as scheduled by the company.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team; a self‑starter, but not hesitant to ask for direction when needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels with both internal and external partners.
  • Able to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights requiring extra hours, weekends and holidays due to varying volumes, plus on occasion hour cutbacks in the slow season.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Work primarily in plant production settings in various temperatures/conditions.
  • This role exposes the employee to industrial equipment with moving mechanical parts.
  • Must be able to frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/pull rolling carts, toolboxes, parts, etc. weighing 50+ lbs.
  • Noise levels in designated areas of the plant require use of approved hearing protection.
  • Talking and hearing is frequently required.
  • Vision abilities for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to stand and walk.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop/crouch/squat.
  • Must be able to use arms/wrists/hands/grasp.
  • Must be able to climb and balance on ladders as needed.
