Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking an experienced Team Leader for the Cardiac Reconditioning team to drive clinical and operational excellence. You will oversee daily unit operations, lead a skilled nursing team, and coordinate with interdisciplinary partners to achieve high-quality patient outcomes.

The role emphasizes leadership, safety, regulatory compliance, and staff development within a respected hospital setting in Baton Rouge.

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience with team development in a clinical setting.
  • Cardiac nursing experience required to lead specialized unit.
  • BSN preferred; unit training within 6 months and national certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the assigned nursing unit(s).
  • Ensure safe, high-quality patient-focused care through leadership and operations.
  • Monitor staffing levels, patient acuity, and census for resource allocation.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and experience.

What You Will Do

As a Team Leader, you will provide operational, clinical, and leadership oversight for the department ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting the strategic goals of Baton Rouge General.

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of assigned nursing unit(s)
  • Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-focused care through effective leadership and operational excellence
  • Monitor staffing levels, patient acuity, and census to ensure appropriate resource allocation
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and enhance the patient experience
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and monitor performance metrics to support departmental goals
  • Develop and maintain a culture of accountability, engagement, teamwork, and professional growth
  • Respond to and resolve patient care, employee, and operational concerns in a timely and effective manner
  • Support regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures
  • Promote patient and employee safety through adherence to established best practices and quality standards

Experience Requirements
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Cardiac nursing experience required
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Unit-specific training requirements completed within six (6) months of hire
  • National certification in specialty area strongly preferred
Special Skills, Licensure & Knowledge Requirements
  • Current Louisiana Registered Nurse License required
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and performance management skills
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations
  • Knowledge of nursing operations, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Safety & Compliance Expectations
  • Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements
  • Complies with all organizational safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards
  • Promotes a culture of patient safety, employee safety, and continuous quality improvement
  • Ensures compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care
