Job summary

Rittal LLC in Urbana, OH is seeking a Team Leader for Assembly Operations on the 3rd shift. You will ensure labor and materials align with production schedules, oversee the assembly and packaging of products, and drive improvements through the Rittal Production System.

The role emphasizes safety, 5S, cross-training, and collaboration with Quality, Engineering and Planning to meet quality, uptime and on-time delivery targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in assembly operations with leadership preferred.
• Strong understanding of lean concepts and 5S.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels.

• Maintain 5S and a clean, organized work environment.
• Lead cross-training of assembly line workers and maintain training matrix.
• Track attendance and complete timekeeping documentation accurately.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using the Rittal Production System (RPS).
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Planning to resolve production issues.

Primary Activities/Duties

• Ensure labor and materials are available to meet production schedules and customer demand.
• Oversee the assembly and packaging of products to meet quality standards and customer specifications.
• Achieve and exceed targets for quality, productivity, uptime, on-time delivery, and cost.
• Perform work content at every station per work instruction and takt time as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment following 5S principles.
• Lead and coordinate cross-training of assembly line workers; maintain and update training matrix.
• Track daily attendance and complete timekeeping documentation accurately.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using the Rittal Production System (RPS).
• Collaborate with internal departments such as Quality, Engineering, and Planning to resolve production issues.
• Interface with internal suppliers (e.g., paint, fabrication) to ensure smooth workflow.
• Actively contribute to process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
• Foster a positive workplace culture through active engagement with peers, supervisors, and management.

Knowledge & Experience

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in assembly operations required; leadership experience preferred.
• Familiarity with basic 5S and lean manufacturing concepts.
• Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and analytical thinking.
