Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York seeks a Team Leader to provide direct services to high school students and young adults, guiding education and career pathways, financial literacy, resume building, and college applications in group and one-on-one settings.

The role supports the Alianza Division; requires an Associate degree with two years' youth experience, bilingual abilities, and strong teamwork. Schedule is primarily Monday–Friday afternoons with possible weekend events.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; working toward bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Two years' experience working with youth.
• Experience facilitating workshops.
• Experience providing one-on-one peer mediation.

Responsibilities

• Create a tracking format of participants' achievements and goals.
• Prepare participants for higher education and/or career tracks.

Classification: Administrative Support Worker

Reports to: Beacon Program Director

Department: Alianza Division

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes____ No__X___

Salary: $22.00 an hour

Summary

The Team Leader is responsible for providing direct services to High school and young adults in many such as: creating a pathway to higher education and career trainings, financial literacy, resume building, mock interviews, applying for SYEP, college trips, applying for scholarships, all of this will occur in two venues group settings and one on one sessions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Recruit HS and Young Adult participants, caseload of 25-30.
• Facilitate Groups.
• Provide academic support and guidance.
• One on sessions and assessment.
• Create a tracking format of participants achievements and goals.
• Prepare participants for higher education and or career tracks
• Submit weekly reports and monthly group progress reports to the Program Director on a timely basis
• Track daily attendance.
• Assist in program and agency division and agency events as needed.
• Attend program Meetings.
• Collect report cards to monitor educational progress and keep track of academic progress
• Work as part of a team that organizes the agency's annual youth conference and Thanksgiving luncheon
• Help organize and implement all activities that relate to youth.
• Inform the Program Director of any changes and abnormalities that may occur.
• Attend all program staff meetings, community and agency events.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Days and hours are generally Monday to Friday 3pm-6pm and occasional Saturdays. Additional evening and weekend hours may be required to attend special events or meet program deadlines.

• Ability and patience to work with children and young people, recognizing their exuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in group settings.
• Remain in a stationary position working at a computer at least 30% of the time or monitoring activities.
• Move for long periods, providing instruction or facilitating workshops
• Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, traverse city streets, ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions, while escorting youth.

Qualifications

Education and/or experience required

• Associate degree; working toward Bachelor Degree a plus
• Two years' experience working with youth performing youth worker duties
• Experience facilitating workshops
• Experience providing one-on-one peer mediation

• Bilingual, English/Spanish
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams
• Demonstrated ability to work with families who face exceptional challenges
