Job summary

Amcor LLC is seeking a Front Line Leader to assist the Production Supervisor in daily operations, ensuring safety, quality and performance goals are met. You will monitor production and scrap, inspect equipment, report irregularities and support shift personnel under the supervisor's absence.

Responsibilities include training, prioritizing tasks, and upholding safety policies while coordinating with maintenance and department aims. Requires a high school diploma or GED and extrusion experience.

Job description

Job Description Primary Function: Assists Production Supervisor in daily operations to meet production, quality and scrap performance goals and will act as supervisor in his/her absence. Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and check production and scrap rates during production shift for non‑conformity with company guidelines and to maximize production
  • Inspect equipment for proper operation and report any irregularities to maintenance
  • Check orders, equipment and JDE system to verify accuracy of resins, additives, order packaging, inventory and scrap
  • Assist with completing detailed shift report noting any problems with orders and equipment for the department manager to review
  • Take appropriate action to ensure conformance to AIB, and SQF and safety and quality policies and regulations to include employee training
  • Attend regular department meetings, safety meetings and company provided training
  • Train, evaluate and prioritize shift personnel to equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting production equipment
  • Supervise all employee activities during the shift in the absence of the Supervisor
  • Oversee good housekeeping practices
  • Oversee the plant operations and assist with problems throughout the plant during normal and other than normal business hours
  • Job duties subject to change as needed
Front Line Leader Safety Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre‑shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.) in the absence of the Supervisor
  • Assist in the completion of incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Follow goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving plant/team goals.
  • Motivates and coaches’ employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.
  • Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
Additional Requirements
  • Overall responsibility for the production department in the absence of the shift supervisor and is expected to respond to any emergency
  • Must accommodate any reasonable request of the managers
  • Must be familiar with the safety regulations pertaining to the production department
  • Follow all J.S.A. instructions where applicable and ensure other employees in the production department follow all J.S.A. instructions

Essential Physical Requirements
  • Walking to inspect facility including raw materials, work‑in‑process and finished goods, building and equipment, and overall manufacturing and warehouse operations for as much as 100% of workday
  • Sitting to prepare reports and use computer equipment for approximately 10% of workday
  • Must be able to assist with set‑ups and mechanical repairs which can require
  • Standing for as much as 100% of workday
  • Reaching with hands and arms for as much as 75% of workday
  • Climbing or balancing for as much as 25% of workday
  • Kneeling, stooping, crouching or crawling for as much as 10% of workday

Salary Range

The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $29.00, however starting pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience between $29.00 to $41.00
