Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking a Team Lead for the Tank & Canopy area on 2nd shift in Richmond, VA. The role directs manufacturing teams and drives SQDC and Lean initiatives to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.

You will run daily huddle meetings, ensure policy compliance, and partner with engineering to maintain on-time delivery and continuous improvement. Strong leadership and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Over 3 years related experience.
  • Basic computer experience with MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, basic AS400 software or similar system knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct manufacturing teams.
  • Focus on Safety-Quality-Delivery-Cost (SQDC) and Lean responsiveness.
  • Conduct daily board (huddle group) team meetings on area performance.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems using PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act).
  • Perform activities of workers in group as a backup.
  • Prepare and execute daily start-up plan.
  • Update and maintain cross-functional training matrix.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to assure on-time delivery to customers through Kaizen processes.
  • Coordinate material scheduling and kitting to prevent shortages.
  • Maintain 6S and operator PM checklists.
  • Implement and sustain standard work procedures and visuals.

Job Title: Team Lead - Tank & Canopy, 2nd shift

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a Team Lead who will be responsible to lead a team in a specific area in operations in the coordination of activities of department operations by performing the following duties.

What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role
  • Responsible for leading and directing manufacturing teams.
  • SQDC (Safety-Quality-Delivery-Cost) and Lean responsiveness
  • Conducts daily board (huddle group) team meetings focused on area performance
  • Interprets and ensures compliance of company policies and safety regulations.
  • Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems using PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) process.
  • Performs activities of workers in group as a backup
  • Daily start-up plan preparation and execution
  • Responsible for update, implementation and maintenance of cross-functional training matrix
  • Participate with manufacturing engineering in assuring on time delivery to customers or other departments (internal customers) through Kaizen processes.
  • Conduct continuous level load scheduling
  • Coordinate material scheduling and kitting to assure no shortages to the lines
  • Maintain 6S throughout the shift and operator pm checklists
  • Implement and sustain standard work procedures and practices as a key activity---also sustain visual boards and controls.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers.
  • Maintain efficiency levels to 90% or better.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
What are the basic qualifications?
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Over 3 years related experience.
  • Basic computer experience with MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, basic AS400 software computer or similar system knowledge
What are the preferred qualifications?
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • AS400 experience preferred
Essential Physical/Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to lift/pull/push 50 lbs. up to 50 % of the shift.
  • Must be able to stand/walk/bend/twist for prolonged periods up to 10 hours/day as needed per production area.
