Job summary

Indiana University Health in Avon, IN is seeking a skilled central service professional to clean, wrap, sterilize, store and distribute endoscopes and instruments for surgical cases. You will assist clinicians with instrumentation and case preparation, provide technical guidance, and mentor staff while supporting scheduling and inventory tasks.

The role requires certified central service credentials, ongoing CE credits, and experience in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Requires one national certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER or CST) and a second national certification related to central service or sterile processing (Examples: CIS; CSIP; CFER; CST; CHMM; CHL).
  • Requires 24 CE credits annually that focus on information and advancement related to the CS field and be of a technical nature.
  • Must maintain current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist NBSTSA if in a hybrid OR/SPD role.
  • May require Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires demonstration of expert knowledge and skills identified as necessary to function as a Tech III.
  • Requires knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Requires advanced preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching.
  • Requires basic computer skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Endo instrumentation function and maintenance is preferred.

  • Trains team on various skills and tasks.
  • Acts as a resource or mentor for the team and other staff.
  • Provides functional guidance to the team and assists Manager with scheduling, training and inventory duties.
