Position Overview

This position oversees the shipping and receiving department, ensuring proper handling of materials, adherence to safety procedures, and providing accurate, timely shipments. The role involves directing activities to meet the company's financial and marketing objectives. Additionally, the position acts as the leader on duty in the absence of the store manager, responding to customer and associate concerns, and managing store opening and closing responsibilities to ensure security of property and personnel.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  1. Supervision and Training: Supervise the work activities of sales associates (full-time, part-time, and temporary), train new associates, and oversee seasonal staff hired for peak seasons.
  2. Policy Compliance: Ensure sales associates follow company and store policies, procedures, and standards.
  3. System and Inventory Management: Maintain systems data, forms, files, and reports in accordance with store policies. Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, invoices, or packing slips, and ensure items are received in good condition. Record receipt of shipments and complete shipping logs. Unpack boxes, verify items, and enter data into store systems.
  4. Shipping and Receiving: Ensure the shipping/receiving area is well-stocked, neat, clean, and organized. Weigh incoming/outgoing cartons, load/unload trucks or pallets, pack items, and affix shipping labels with proper postage. Prepare inter-store transfer forms if needed.
  5. Stocking and Customer Service: Unload boxes, prepare products for stocking on shelves or displays. Lead efforts to reduce in-store shrink activity through Asset Protection education and compliance. Direct customers to product locations and answer routine inquiries.
  6. Store Operations: Act as key carrier with responsibilities for opening and closing the store, ensuring security of property and personnel.
  7. Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.
