Job description

Position Overview

This position oversees the shipping and receiving department, responsible for the proper handling of materials, adherence to safety procedures, and providing accurate, timely shipments. It directs activities to meet the financial and marketing objectives of the company. The role also acts as the leader on duty, responding to customer and associate concerns in the absence of the store manager, as well as opening and closing the store and ensuring all bookstore property and personnel are secure.

Compensation

State of Colorado Applicants: $12.56-$18/hr

Key Areas of Responsibility
  1. Supervise sales associates (full-time, part-time, temporary): Train new associates, ensure compliance with policies, and oversee daily activities.
  2. Maintain store systems and organization: Ensure data, forms, files, and reports are accurate and up-to-date; keep shipping/receiving area organized and stocked.
  3. Manage vendor relationships and shipments: Establish relationships with publishers, verify incoming shipments, process returns, and record receipt of goods.
  4. Handle shipping logistics: Weigh cartons, load/unload trucks, prepare shipments with proper labels and postage, and process inter-store transfers.
  5. Stock and display products: Unpack and stock books, prepare products for display, and direct customers as needed.
  6. Implement loss prevention strategies: Lead efforts to reduce shrink through asset protection education and compliance.
  7. Store operations: Act as key carrier, handle opening and closing responsibilities, and ensure security of store property and personnel.
  8. Additional duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
