About the Position
As a Team Lead in the P&C Utility Substations group, you will manage a team comprised of engineers, drafters, designers, and/or technicians. This role will have Utility (IOUs, Municipalities, Co-Ops) project focus. Your primary responsibility will be the accurate, timely, and quality completion of Electrical Engineering scopes assigned to the team. As a P&C Team Lead, you will contribute to the development and refinement of internal processes and workflows that improve quality, consistency, and efficiency across the department. TLs are responsible for promoting, implementing, and reinforcing these processes while serving as a mentor and coach to their team. Team Leads support the professional and technical development of employees, encouraging accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

$100,000 - $150,000 / year
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
- Understands and leads detailed design of all aspects of protection and control packages, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, equipment selection, specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
- Coordinates and analyzes computer-based models and performs power system studies on utility electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, motor starting, power factor, harmonic analysis, and other related studies, to implement in protection and control design packages.
- Understands how protective relay settings affect drawing implementation.
- Reviews equipment data sheets, manuals, and testing reports for design and approvals as needed.
- Seeks opportunities for value engineering and efficiencies in design.
As a Team Lead
- Assigns work to and coordinates work with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
- Reviews and verifies the work of engineers, designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy.
- Manages and supports employee development and growth through individualized development plans.
- Supports business development via Seller‑Doer, assists with marketing tasks, and prepares proposals as needed.
- Assists with establishing and managing engineering budget and scope expectations; prepares technical write-up for applicable change orders.
- Reviews submittals for conformance with client specifications and design.
- Provides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports.
- Maintains professional understanding of all applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practices.
- Maintains strong and responsive Company‑Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics.
- Maintains high ethical and professional standards.
- Works additional time beyond 40hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions as required.
- Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work.
- Checks the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required.
- Understands and applies applicable Codes and Standards.
- Attends safety training and follows safety rules and guidelines.
- Other job‑related responsibilities as assigned.
Must Have
- Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; electric power option preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
- Licensure: FE required; PE preferred.
- Knowledge and familiarity with voltage distribution above 240kV, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls.
- Ideally, experience with HB Substations for data centers.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- High proficiency with power system software such as DIgSILENT/PowerFactory, EasyPower, ETAP or SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Proven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with attention to detail.
- Ability to develop staff through mentoring and coaching.
- A strong command of English.
- Good interpersonal and people skills.

Working Conditions
Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be required.
Travel: Limited, 10–15%.
Managerial Responsibility: Must be able to lift 50lbs. Team members are responsible for managing their own work and schedule and that of their team, mentoring, coaching, and developing employees toward their career aspirations. They are expected to identify discrepancies, bring them to supervisors’ or engineers’ attention promptly, and ensure that their work product is self‑checked for review.
