Job summary

IFF is seeking a Team Leader – Production to supervise shift teams in the Kansas plant, ensuring work is completed on time, to quality standards and within cost targets. You will provide leadership, set expectations, and maintain a safe working environment.

You will coordinate with the Production Manager, train and develop operators, administer daily production and attendance records, and ensure adherence to SOPs, GMPs and quality policies. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Production experience preferred.
  • Past supervisory experience a plus.
  • Must communicate effectively and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide teams with information, tools, training and techniques that enable employees to perform their jobs consistently every day.
  • Ensure that the plant is operating by set work instructions and SOPs.
  • Provide daily feedback to team members on production, schedules, quality, and safety.
  • Assure that all important information is transmitted to the next shift.
  • Provide input to the Production Manager on performance and cross-functionality of the team.
  • Promote safety, quality and sanitation following GMP policies and procedures.
  • Maintain daily production and attendance reports and SAP-related tasks.
  • Coordinate temporary employees and ensure proper training.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function for this position.
  • Assist with training a backup to this position to cover absences.
  • Other duties as required.

Position Description

Position: TEAM LEADER – PRODUCTION

Department: PRODUCTION

Reports To: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR – BLENDING

Nature of Work

Responsible for providing leadership to production department teams of employees and lead operators.

Essential Responsibilities And Duties
  • Provide teams with information, tools, training and techniques that enable employees to perform their jobs consistently every day.
  • Ensure that the plant is operating by set work instructions and SOP’s.
  • Provide daily feedback to team members on production, schedules, quality, and safety.
  • Assure that all important information is transmitted to the next shift.
  • Provide input to the Production Manager on production personnel performance and the cross-functionality of the team.
  • Practice and promote safety, quality and sanitation by following plant policies, GMP’s and procedures. Compliance with these policies, procedures and GMP’s is required. In addition, you have an obligation to yourself, the company and your fellow employees to report any safety hazards observed including failure of others to follow safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist with administrative activities such as: Daily production and attendance report, audit Kronos time punches, notifications for out of specification batches, printing labels when needed, SAP work for short batches, clearing inventory deficits, checking HACCP books at middle and end of shift and inspect screener discharge samples, Ensure forklift checklists are being utilized, inventory items as needed, numerous daily SAP production system maintenance tasks, ensure all paperwork and batch sheets are being filled out correctly.
  • Provide information and assistance in planning and implementing new projects.
  • Coordinate temporary employees and ensure proper training is performed.

  • Other functions as required (non-essential functions).
  • Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including, ISO, Food Safety, Food Defense and an understanding of IFF’s Quality Policy and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must have a high school or equivalent education. Experience in the production department and SAP is preferred. Past Supervisory experience or demonstrated ability is a plus. Must be a good communicator with the ability to follow written as well as verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team as required. Incumbent must be willing to work overtime if needed.

Scope of Position

This position reports directly to the Production Manager and has some supervisory responsibilities. Position will assist Production Manager in performance evaluations and corrective actions pertaining to production department employees. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Production Manager and makes independent decisions regarding the work of the team. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a production/plant environment 50% of the time. This position requires lifting up to 55 lbs. (25 kg). GMP training is required.
