Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Seguin, Texas is seeking a Team Lead to oversee a diesel generator assembly team on 2nd shift. You will train technicians, enforce safety and 5S, and ensure quality while supporting CI initiatives and cross-functional collaboration.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year manufacturing leadership experience, mechanical aptitude, and strong communication in English. Relocation and visa sponsorship are not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and train production technicians to ensure proficiency.

  • Fill team positions and perform various assembly tasks.
  • Inspect parts and materials to ensure quality during assembly.
  • Collaborate with other departments on problem-solving and improvement.
  • Support CI initiatives and follow SOPs/work instructions.
  • Manage daily tasks and special projects from Production Manager.
  • Train team members on processes and certifications.
  • Maintain clear communication within team and across departments.
  • Lead team meetings for the assigned area.

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team in Seguin, Texas as a Team Lead to support our Power Generation operations. As a team lead, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of production employees in the assembly of diesel generators, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Additional Information
  • $22.00 hourly starting wage
  • 2nd Shift will receive a 10% shift premium
  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 4:18pm-2:48am. Overtime as required.
  • Training completed on 1st Shift until October 2026.
  • Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
  • Visa Sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
What You Will Do
  • Lead the work and train production technicians, ensuring their proficiency
  • Champion the adherence to safety guidelines as well as 5S, a system that helps organize and maintain a productive work environment
  • Provide process-related information and escalation of issues to Production Manager, engineers, and/or maintenance departments
  • Ability to fill any team position and accomplish various assembly tasks
  • Ensure quality by inspecting parts and materials during the assembly process
  • Collaborate with other departments for problem-solving and process improvement
  • Submit and assist with Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
  • Follow standard operating procedures and specific work instructions
  • Execute daily work assignments and special projects directed by the Production Manager
  • Facilitate employee training for processes and certifications
  • Maintain effective communication within the team and across departments
  • Assisting in leading various team meetings for the assigned area
  • Perform other assigned duties
What You Will Have
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in manufacturing work environment, leadership experience or relevant college degree or combination of experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
  • Proficiency in PLEX menus (control panel, check sheets, inventory search, rejection logs, etc.)
  • Ability to handle departmental delegation during issue resolution
  • Flexibility in shift and/or value stream assignments
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Initiative and willingness to speak up
What Would Make You a Top Candidate
  • At least 1-years’ experience assembling products in a manufacturing facility
  • Previous experience reading complex electrical assembly instructions
  • Previous experience and/or certification in operating forklifts, tugger, and/or other power equipment
  • Experience conducting standard work audits for a value stream
  • One year of leadership experience in a formal or informal capacity, preferably in manufacturing
  • Lean manufacturing experience or Lean Certification
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
