Qualifications

  • Experience reading tooling/part prints and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and train machine operators for proficiency and safety.
  • Enforce 5S and safety guidelines across the area.
  • Provide process information and escalate issues to Production Manager/engineers.
  • Fill team positions as needed and handle diverse tasks.
  • Ensure quality by inspecting parts during assembly.
  • Collaborate with other departments for issue solving and improvements.
  • Submit and assist CI initiatives to optimize value streams.
  • Follow SOPs and work instructions and complete daily tasks.

Job Summary

IPSD is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team in Schertz, Texas as a Team Lead supporting the CNC machining of our C15 diesel engine heads. As a team lead in our machining facility, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of employees, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Additional Information
  • Hourly Compensation Range: $22.00 - $28.50
  • 2nd Shift will receive a 7% shift premium
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:30pm - 11:00pm. Overtime as required.
  • Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
  • Visa Sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
What You Will Do
  • Lead and train Machine Operators, ensuring their proficiency
  • Champion the adherence to safety guidelines as well as 5S, a system that helps organize and maintain a productive work environment
  • Provide process-related information and escalation of issues to Production Manager, engineers, and/or maintenance departments
  • Ability to fill any team position and accomplish various tasks
  • Ensure quality by inspecting parts and materials during the assembly process
  • Collaborate with other departments for problem-solving and process improvement
  • Submit and assist with Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
  • Follow standard operating procedures and specific work instructions
  • Execute daily work assignments and special projects directed by the Production Manager
  • Facilitate employee training for processes and certifications
  • Maintain effective communication within the team and across departments
  • Assisting in leading various team meetings for the assigned area
  • Perform other assigned duties
What You Will Have
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in Machining Operations and/or Quality experience in a machining and/or manufacturing facility, leadership experience, or relevant college degree or combination of experiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Basic understanding of machining centers controls and applications (i.e. Heller & Toyota)
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) software, ability to read tooling and part prints
  • Experience with electronic standard work or standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Proficiency in Plex menus (control panel, check sheets, inventory search, rejection logs, etc.)
  • Ability to handle departmental delegation during issue resolution
  • Flexibility in shift and/or value stream assignments
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Initiative and willingness to speak up
What Would Make You a Top Candidate
  • In-depth knowledge of Heller and Toyota Machining Centers Controls and Applications
  • Knowledge of various tools with the ability to change and set tooling in machines
  • Technical experience in manufacturing processes
  • Experience conducting standard work audits for a value stream
  • One year of leadership experience in a formal or informal capacity, preferably in manufacturing
  • Lean manufacturing experience or Six Sigma Certification
  • Knowledge of gauging
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
