Position Summary:

As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in our management culture that oversees daily department production requirements. You will be a member of our high-performance team with cross-functional responsibilities, assuring quality product and customer happiness. You'll take the lead on monitoring daily production schedules, training employees, auditing on standard work procedures, and responding to production line issues. Leading and mentoring members, building production schedules, and improving processes are all a part of a Team Leader's daily task.

Our Team Leaders have good verbal and written communication skills, and are eager to work within the team to service our customers. Being a problem solver and maintaining a safe work environment are also keys to success. A new Team Leader will need to quickly establish trust, so previous manufacturing and leadership experience is helpful.

Principal Functional Responsibilities:

CI Activities:

  1. Track and react to data for safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) to pursue gaps in the Masco Operating System (MOS)
  2. Create and sustain standard work

Training:

  1. Assess team members’ skills by auditing against standard work and production KPIs; work with supervisors to identify gaps in training and action plans to address those gaps
  2. Coach and develop skills of individual team members; conduct general training

Quality:

  1. Communicate quality requirements, goals, and performance
  2. Audit to standard work; escalate as needed

Safety:

  1. Communicate safety requirements, goals, and performance
  2. Perform safety audits
  3. Identify and report EHS opportunities and incidents; correct unsafe conditions or escalate as needed
  4. Participate on the BrassCraft Thomasville Safety Committee

Materials:

  1. Improve and expedite material movement through processes
  2. Ensure compliance to procedures through accurate production reporting

Production:

  1. Monitor processes and key metrics to maintain controls
  2. Identify and improve processes
  3. Respond to and facilitate team members’ improvement suggestions
  4. Monitor scrap and first pass yield data to reduce waste

People:

  1. Lead daily huddles
  2. Assess and develop team members’ skills
  3. Recognize / celebrate the accomplishment of goals
  4. Support onboarding of new team members

Qualifications:

  1. Ability to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, and coach/correct as needed
  2. Demonstrated ability to accurately find the root cause of a problem, assess options, and make recommendations
  3. Ability to plan, schedule, and monitor work; good understanding of production scheduling and other variables such as run-rates, processing times, and change-over times
  4. Ability to work cooperatively and lead others in improvement activities
  5. Ability to organize and complete on time all project tasks, goals, timelines
  6. Intermediate Computer Skills, including, MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  7. Ability to provide positive coaching and feedback
  8. Demonstrates functional level proficiency in performing every production job within assigned area of responsibility in line with documented Job Instruction Breakdown/Standard Work instructions
  9. Flexibility with work schedule to support our three shift operation

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  1. HS degree or HS equivalency diploma is preferred
  2. Knowledge of product quality (success rates), throughput delivery, and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield)
  3. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, daily management, TPM, problem solving, troubleshooting
  4. Acceptable disciplinary performance – current employees who have received a written warning (first or second) are not eligible for promotions or transfers for a minimum of six months after receiving that warning
  5. Acceptable attendance performance – current employees who have seven or more attendance points are not eligible for promotions or transfers
