Job Description

Responsible for leading and coaching a manufacturing team to manage production processes. The Team Leader must lead by example in the areas of safety, 5S compliance, quality, and productivity initiatives. The focus should be on team performance and supporting their production levels by addressing issues quickly and efficiently.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assign employees to necessary equipment based on communicated demand to fulfill internal and external product demand.
  • Ensure the thorough training of employees in the areas of safety, 5S, quality, and proper equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Understand, follow, and enforce safety, 5S, quality, and production expectations. Evaluate expectations regularly and communicate/document with areas of concern to individuals and management.
  • Communicate equipment issues with maintenance, enter tickets, follow up on completed items if necessary.
  • Communicate pass‑down information with outgoing and incoming shift on a daily basis.
  • Open communication with management regarding issues or concerns, follow up as needed.
  • Support non‑production items as needed to keep production running as efficiently as possible (e.g., material handling, packaging).
  • Engage in the continuous improvement of the business unit.
  • Assist employees with troubleshooting equipment issues and out‑of‑tolerance material. Escalate and work with maintenance if needed to find a resolution.
  • Prepare and administer annual performance reviews, conduct ongoing individual coaching, and administer corrective actions.
  • Support and lead safety, quality initiatives, and training as required.
  • Help support and implement near‑miss and business unit improvements as needed.
Qualifications
  • Must possess strong leadership skills – including sound decision making.
  • Must have a successful and demonstrated track record of building positive relationships with and between production personnel.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must be a team player who possesses an excellent attitude.
  • Must be customer focused and goal oriented.
  • Must be able to fulfill these responsibilities with minimal supervision.
