POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Group Sales or Department Manager, the Team Leader provides daily direction to associates in one of the store departments, including merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales enhancements, stocking, and customer service activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Supports the GSM / DM in achieving Departmental Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory Shrinkage, and Payroll Goals.
  2. Provides daily direction to department associates.
  3. Prepares to-do / Task lists.
  4. Executes merchandising directives and maintains plan-o-grams as set by the Corporate Office.
  5. Ensures a pleasant shopping experience for customers.
  6. Assists in staffing, training, scheduling, coaching, and motivating associates.
  7. Resolves customer and associate issues with GSM / DM and HR Manager.
  8. Maintains high personal customer service levels and conducts product knowledge training.
  9. Coordinates special events, pricing, inventory, and displays.
  10. Performs supervisory responsibilities in line with company policies and laws.
  11. Provides excellent customer service by identifying needs and recommending products, promoting programs like CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pickup.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 to 4 years of retail sales experience.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to calculate discounts, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to read and analyze reports.
  • Effective communication skills with managers, staff, and customers.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and presentations.
  • Proficiency with PC-based software and POS systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Occasional use of ladders, stairs, and machinery.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds constantly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds with team lift.
  • Work in confined spaces and noisy environments occasionally.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Performs duties within company policies, using judgment to adapt guidelines, analyze problems, and make recommendations affecting policies and procedures.
