Job summary

The Federal Reporting Accountant VII / Team Lead at Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) leads advanced accounting work focused on federal grant reporting, including CMS-64 and CMS-21. You will supervise staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage multiple automated systems while coordinating with auditors and federal representatives.

This exempt, full-time role offers telework eligibility, strong internal controls, and opportunities for career advancement within the HHSC

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting, finance, or a business-related field.
• Four years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, auditing, or budgeting.
• Experience with Medicaid & CHIP reporting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the work of others and provide guidance for complex accounting functions.
• Perform variance analysis and reconciliations between general ledger and federal/state reports.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual state and federal financial reports.
