Manchester Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is seeking a dependable and experienced Lead Housekeeper / Porter to help maintain a clean, safe, and attractive environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
This hands-on position combines housekeeping leadership, general porter responsibilities, transportation of supplies and equipment, and specialized floor-care services. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining high standards and is comfortable operating commercial floor-care equipment.
Assist with coordinating daily housekeeping assignments and workflow.
Help train, support, and provide direction to housekeeping staff.
Inspect resident rooms, common areas, offices, and other assigned spaces for cleanliness and compliance with facility standards.
Ensure cleaning schedules and assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Identify and report housekeeping, maintenance, infection-control, and safety concerns.
Assist with maintaining adequate housekeeping supplies and equipment.
Provide coverage and hands-on assistance throughout the facility as needed.
Clean resident areas, hallways, common spaces, offices, entrances, restrooms, and other assigned areas.
Collect and remove trash, recycling, and soiled materials according to facility procedures.
Transport supplies, furniture, equipment, and other materials safely throughout the facility.
Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and urgent cleaning needs.
Set up and break down rooms for meetings, activities, and facility events.
Maintain entrances and high-traffic areas in a clean, safe, and presentable condition.
Follow infection-control, chemical-safety, and workplace-safety procedures.
Sweep, dust mop, damp mop, scrub, strip, wax, seal, and buff floors according to facility standards.
Operate floor-maintenance equipment, including auto scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, and carpet extractors.
Maintain hard-floor surfaces to ensure a clean, polished, and safe appearance.
Clean carpets and remove stains, scuff marks, buildup, and debris from flooring surfaces.
Use appropriate caution signs and safety barriers while performing floor work.
Monitor floor conditions and report damaged flooring, trip hazards, or other safety concerns.
Clean and maintain floor-care equipment after use.
Monitor floor-care products and supplies and notify management when additional stock is needed.
Previous housekeeping, porter, janitorial, or environmental-services experience required.
References and background check
Previous commercial floor-care experience strongly preferred.
Experience operating commercial floor-maintenance equipment preferred.
Lead or supervisory experience is a plus.
Healthcare, skilled-nursing, hospital, or senior-living experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
Ability to organize work, prioritize assignments, and work independently.
Professional, dependable, and able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
Ability to follow written instructions, equipment guidelines, chemical labels, and safety procedures.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift, carry, push, and move supplies or equipment as required by the position.
Must be available to work the scheduled shift, including occasional weekends or holidays as needed.
