Job Description - Team Lead, CT (260004L3)

A Brief Overview

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves operating CT equipment, ensuring patient safety, and providing exceptional patient care. The CT Technologist collaborates with radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare team members to deliver accurate imaging results in a timely manner. They must maintain compliance with organizational policies, as well as state and federal regulations, and uphold standards of practice in radiation safety and patient confidentiality.

What You Will Do
  • Demonstrates successful patient/technical skills by efficiently implementing CT scanning protocols and procedures in Diagnostic and Interventional CT to expected service excellence standards.
  • Collaborates effectively with co-workers and staff to ensure that assignments are completed in a professional and effective manner.
  • Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
  • Adheres to ALARA, Image Gently, Image Wisely standards and hospital CT safety standards.
  • Consistently follow hospital and department guidelines for patient identification and safety.
  • Demonstrates competency in patient and technical imaging skills by producing a variety of radiological procedures while maintaining the highest standard of care independently and collaboratively.
  • Displays a commitment to hospital mission and values.
  • Maintain licensure and continuing education requirements.
  • Uses administrative skills to contribute to the successful operations of CT.
  • Effectively communicates with ordering providers and/or radiologists to properly protocol patient studies.
  • Ensures all equipment is functioning and demonstrates ability to initiate service repair process.
  • Refer to competency for all essential duties.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Contributes to the successful operations of the department through effective communication, coordination and leadership and is capable of assuming the responsibility of supervisor in the absence of supervisor.
  • Proficient at training, orienting, and mentoring students, new staff and physicians.
  • Participates in projects and committees as needed.
  • Coordinates or assists with all ACR/ODH and DNV duties to ensure yearly inspections and constant compliance with ACR/ODH and DNV standards per site requirements.
  • Maintain modality schedule, PTO requests, staffing to volumes in conjunction with the supervisor.
  • Provides intermittent direct and indirect supervision of employees in an assigned area to provide support in the supervisor absence.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education
  • Associate's Degree Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology program (Required) or
  • Other Accredited Program: Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology program (Required)
Work Experience
  • 5+ years as registered CT technologist (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of modality, computers, patient transport equipment, O2 tanks, immobilization devices, radiology information system and PACS, (Required proficiency)
  • Use EMR and Radiology RIS systems to send and obtain patient information for care.
  • Must demonstrate effective organizational, written and oral communication skills. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire) and
  • Registered Technologist Radiography (ARRT-R) and current Ohio Department of Health license. (Required Upon Hire) and
  • ARRT-CT registered. (Required Upon Hire) and
  • current Ohio Department of Health license. (Required Upon Hire)
