Teaching Hospitalist/CDU Attending provides comprehensive inpatient medical care while serving as a clinical educator for residents, medical students, and interdisciplinary learners within the teaching hospital environment. This role combines direct patient care with academic responsibilities, including resident supervision, bedside teaching, curriculum support, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
The physician works collaboratively with hospital leadership, faculty, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, case management, and consulting specialists to ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care and an exceptional educational experience for trainees.
The physician is expected to provide clinical coverage within the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), dedicating a minimum of 10% of expected hospital medicine shifts to CDU patient care. This independent hospital medicine work includes evaluation, management, and disposition planning for observation-status patients requiring short-term treatment, monitoring, and care coordination.
