Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), part of the Texas A&M University System, invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Physics to start Fall 2027. The role includes teaching Physics and Astronomy to both science and non-science majors and engaging in service and outreach activities.

The appointment is non-tenure track and fixed for 3 years with possible renewal based on performance and needs. On-campus duties and face-to-face instruction are required.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have earned a doctorate in Physics or a closely related discipline. ABDs may be considered if the doctorate is earned by Aug 16, 2027.
• Experience teaching Physics and Astronomy at a similar institution is strongly encouraged.
• Experience in outreach and community engagement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach 15 semester credit hours per semester (lectures 3 credits, labs 2 credits) in Physics and Astronomy for science and non-science majors.
• Serve on departmental, university, and professional committees as needed.
• Participate in initiatives and outreach to advance the disciplines and recruitment in the Department of Mathematics and Physics.
• Maintain regular on-campus duties with face-to-face interactions.
