Job summary

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Physics to begin Fall 2027. The position is non-tenure track and fixed-term for 3 years, with potential renewal based on performance and departmental needs.

Primary duties include teaching introductory Physics and Astronomy courses and serving on committees. The role requires face-to-face presence on campus, with opportunities to contribute to outreach and recruitment within the

Qualifications

PhD in Physics or closely related discipline.
ABD candidates may be considered but must have earned a doctorate by Aug 16, 2027.
Strong prior teaching experience in Physics and Astronomy at similar institutions is encouraged.
Experience in outreach and community engagement is preferred.

Responsibilities

Teach 15 semester credit hours per semester (lectures 3 credits, labs 2 credits per course) in Physics and Astronomy for science and non-science majors.
Participate in departmental, university and professional committees and initiatives.
Contribute to community outreach and recruitment efforts within the Department of Mathematics and Physics.
Engage in face-to-face teaching on campus as required.
