Job summary

Worcester Polytechnic Institute seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teaching to support the undergraduate interdisciplinary projects program through teaching, advising, and scholarly work.

The candidate will lead Social Science Research Methods instruction, supervise off-campus projects, and contribute to the Global Projects Program with opportunities to direct off-campus centers and advance innovative pedagogy.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching qualitative social science research methods.
• Demonstrated ability to engage students in off-campus experiential learning.
• Proven collaboration across disciplines to support interdisciplinary projects.
• Flexibility and adaptability in guiding students and pivoting teaching approaches.
• Active engagement in professional communities through workshops or conferences.

Responsibilities

• Teach Social Science Research Methods and advise student projects.
• Organize and advise off-campus project centers for two 8-week terms per year.
• Take leadership role directing one off-campus project center within the global project network.
• Develop and disseminate high-impact teaching practices and innovations.
• Participate in pre-departure training and orientation for field travel and field centers.
