Job summary

University of California, Merced invites applications for Teaching Fellow positions in the School of Natural Sciences for the 2026-2027 academic year, including Summer Session 2026. The TF will conduct laboratory and discussion sections, attend lectures, proctor exams, and grade assignments while holding two fixed office hours weekly to support the supervising instructor.

Appointments may be for a single semester or up to a full academic year, with 25%–50% time during Fall and Spring semesters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in the subject area or a related field.
• Must be a registered UC Merced graduate student in full-time residence.
• For incoming graduate students: Enrollment in at least 12 units throughout the first semester.
• For continuing graduate students: Enrollment in at least 12 units in the current semester and related GPA requirements.
• Advanced to candidacy for the doctorate with qualifying GPA and eligibility criteria for appointment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assigned laboratory and/or discussion sections.
• Attend lecture, lab and TA meetings; proctor exams.
• Grade homework; schedule at least two fixed office hours per week.
• Perform other instructional duties in support of supervising instructor.
