The Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS) was established to provide a summer enrichment experience in the sciences and mathematics for hardworking rising high school seniors across Pennsylvania and to encourage them to pursue STEM careers. The program emphasizes collaborative learning and team research. The PGSS is a 5-week STEM enrichment program with a focus on Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences, and Physics.
The PGSS is a five-week STEM enrichment program seeking multiple Teaching Assistants/Residential Counselors for the 2025 summer session. These positions offer a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for individuals who excel in engaging and challenging environments.

Program Dates for PGSS 2025
Arrival of TA/Counselor Staff: Orientation and training begin: Sunday, June 15, 2025
Arrival of student participants: PGSS Opening Ceremony: Sunday, June 22, 2025
Departure of student participants: Saturday, July 26, 2025
Departure of TA/Counselor Staff: Sunday, July 27, 2025
Your core responsibilities will include:
Assist with lecture and lab courses while mentoring team research projects.
Reside in the dormitory with PGSS students to foster a supportive living-learning environment.
Ensure students adhere to PGSS disciplinary rules and uphold program policies.
Provide tutorial support to students in the academic program.
Plan, organize, and lead engaging social activities for students.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
A strong academic record and excellent communication skills.
Proven ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of internal and external partners with high integrity.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Consideration will be given to candidates with a combination of education and relevant experience demonstrating comparable knowledge.
Applicants should have completed at least two years of college; outstanding first-year students will also be considered.
Prior experience with PGSS or similar summer programs is preferred.
Requirements:
Successful background check.
PA Child Protection Clearances (Act 153).
