Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support learning across the curriculum alongside the class teacher.
  • Lead phonics groups and interventions.
  • Cover the class for short periods if required.

Job description

We are seeking to appoint an excellent and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our skilled and supportive school community.

The post is suitable for someone with previous professional school experience and will initially be working as part of our KS1 team alongside our superb and well-organised teachers.

As part of Valley Invicta Academy Trust, you will be given valuable training and support to further develop your skills and offer a clear career pathway.

In addition, the school leaders and SENCo will offer guidance and encouragement to ensure that you are successful in your role.

The position is a substantive, full-time role.

5 days a week, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm, finishing at 3:30pm on a Friday.

37 hours p/w.

We warmly invite visits to the school, or conversations with the Headteacher online.

Strong applications may be shortlisted earlier and we reserve the right to interview earlier for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will:

  • Preferably have a teaching assistant qualification e.g. NVQ level 2 or 3.
  • Be an excellent KS1 practitioner who will have high expectations and ambitions for all pupils.
  • Have sound knowledge of phonics and be confident and able to lead phonics groups and interventions, preferably RWI.
  • Be able to support learning across the curriculum, taking an active and responsive role alongside the class teacher.
  • Have confidence to cover the class for short periods if required.
  • Promote the school’s inclusive ethos, scaffolding and adapting tasks, by using programs such as Widgit, Clicker and Colourful Semantics.
  • Be creative in approach when encouraging a less confident child.
  • Work collaboratively to develop own skills and share good practice with colleagues.
  • Build strong relationships and work effectively with all members of the school community.
  • Bring interests and ideas into the role.
