Job description

DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Regional Schools & Instructional Programs at Nassau BOCES is currently seeking probationary Teaching Assistants to assist classroom teachers in pedagogical and classroom management tasks. This position is probationary and eligible for tenure.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Working with individual students or groups of students in career and technical education classes under the classroom teacher's direction.
  2. Providing the classroom teacher with information about students that will help develop appropriate learning experiences.
  3. Assisting students in the use of available instructional resources and assisting in the development of instructional materials.
  4. Assisting the classroom teacher with related instructional work as required.
  5. In the classroom teacher's absence, assume all instructional duties.


REQUIREMENTS:

  1. New York State Education Department Certification – Teaching Assistant Level I, II or III or New York State Department of Education Teacher Certification.
  2. Experience working with career and technical education students with a wide range of needs.
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  4. Experience in providing small group instruction is preferred.
  5. Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Platforms is preferred.


SALARY:
As per contract.
