Job summary

Persevere seeks a Classroom Facilitator (Teaching Assistant) to work inside Florida State Prison in Pahokee, FL. This full-time role supports Persevere students as they progress through the Persevere Coding Curriculum under a remote instructor, with emphasis on safety, records, and student development.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of coding experience.
• Teaching tech experience highly desirable.
• Reliability and the ability to report to work daily.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with a diverse group of students.

Responsibilities

• Classroom Management: sign for keys and radio, take attendance, order meals, ensure safety and policy adherence, manage day-to-day classroom operations.
• Technical Support: set up A/V equipment, troubleshoot issues, track progress in the data system.
• Participant Support: build trust with students, monitor attitude, provide feedback and individualized support.
• Program Support: maintain positive facility relationships, communicate status and needs to management, input progress notes, assist with Career Readiness materials and Reentry documentation.
• Recruitment: understand eligibility criteria, recruit students, review applications, coordinate interviews.
• Instruction: familiar with PCC and Persevere Plus, maintain records, teach Intro to Tech and Career Readiness, keep modules current, grade assessments, serve as substitute instructor, provide curriculum feedback.
• Personal: complete required training, participate in staff meetings, submit timesheets, participate in cross-training, interact with staff and students in an equitable manner.
