Job summary

Tutu School Akron is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support early childhood ballet classes in a welcoming, hands-on setting. You’ll work toward becoming a Lead Teacher while learning classroom management and ballet basics.

Ideal candidates are high school or college students who enjoy working with young children, are reliable and energetic, and eager to learn in a supportive environment. Training will precede classroom duties.

Qualifications

• Basic dance experience required.
• Genuinely enjoys working with young children.
• Reliable, energetic, patient, and eager to learn.
• Comfortable being silly, playful, and enthusiastic.
• Previous childcare, assisting, education, camp, coaching, or classroom experience a plus.
• Interested in growing into a future Lead Teacher role.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in creating a fun, positive, and engaging class environment.
• Help young dancers participate, follow directions, and feel successful.
• Assist with props, activities, music, and transitions.
• Help prepare and reset the studio before and after class.
• Support classroom organization and cleanliness.
• Learn classroom management and the unique needs of early childhood classes.
• Gradually take on more teaching responsibilities as skills develop.
