Teaching Assistant/Paraprofessional: Full-Time

Job Summary

Performs instructional tasks in the classroom to assist preschool teaching staff by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate flexibility in assisting in classrooms as needed.
  • Have a working knowledge of each child's name, age, disability (if applicable), program plan, goals, medication, feeding, risks, and other special needs.
  • Review and follow lesson plans and daily schedules.
  • Prepare materials and instructional aids.
  • Present instructional objectives to children using task analysis and interact to encourage progress.
  • Observe and record data to measure progress toward objectives.
  • Assist students with self-help skills such as grooming and feeding.
  • Assist children during lunch and on field trips.
  • Use appropriate behavior modification techniques to manage inappropriate behavior.
  • Attend training and participate in professional growth activities.
  • Discuss training concerns related to students with supervisor.
  • Model appropriate language and behavior.
Support Activities
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of classroom and training areas.
  • Perform basic clerical duties such as filing and copying.
  • Assist with educational displays and bulletin boards.
  • Supervise students during before and after school care as scheduled.
