The New York State Office of Children and Family Services is seeking an instructional assistant to work under a certified teacher, delivering planned lessons and assessments to students in designated programs. You will reinforce previously taught material, administer tests, and support classroom duties.
The role may be designated for NY HELPS, with expectations to meet certification qualifications and participate in ongoing professional development.
Under the supervision of a certified teacher, provide direct instructional services to students utilizing lesson plans, tests and teaching aids developed by a certified teacher.
Reinforce subject matter previously taught by a teacher by guiding students through a prescribed and frequently repetitive learning exercise.
Administer, proctor and correct tests.

Transfer: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer.

To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:

This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
Additional Information *For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
