Job description:

We are currently looking for a subject-matter expert in MIT Scratch 3.0 who can co-teach a class to grade school kids. You must have experience building simple and complex projects in Scratch and an understanding of event-driven programming concepts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective instruction to students. This role requires a dynamic individual who can adapt teaching methods to meet student needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction for programming using MIT Scratch 3.0 in a clear and engaging manner, utilizing various teaching techniques.
  • Assess students’ work, providing constructive feedback on project submissions.
  • Work one-on-one with students to clarify doubts.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters respect among peers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance data.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding academic progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and best practices.
  • Design age-appropriate assignments for the targeted audience.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to update existing projects and lesson plans, curriculum, quizzes, and other teaching materials as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Scratch 3.0 and programming concepts.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage students effectively.
  • Previous teaching experience is highly desirable (but not necessary), demonstrating effective instructional skills.
  • Comfortable creating and using Office productivity software tools like Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in the field of education.

Other expectations:

  • Meet with the team 2-3 times a week to sync up on progress.
  • This is a remote position and the working hours can be flexible up to an extent.
