Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Long Island City, Queens, seeks an experienced Assistant Teacher for our private school serving learners with autism, ages 5–15. Under supervision of the Head Teacher and a BCBA, you will deliver instruction, implement individualized activities, and collect progress data to support goals.

This full-time role offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and ABA-based training with BCBA-D supervision toward BACB certification. 8:00 AM–3:30 PM (occasional until 4 PM).

Qualifications

• Experience in teaching special education students (preferably using ABA methodology).
• Understanding of the needs of students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and/or other developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of NYS Common Core Standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
• Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Head Teacher and the BCBA, you will provide instruction to students and help implement individualized curricular activities for each student.
• This individual will also support student learning through data collection on programs and progress toward goals.

Academy for Young Minds (AYM)

powered by Gersh, AYM is seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher to join our team in one of our state-of-the-art classrooms in Long Island City, Queens. AYM is a private school for learners on the Autism Spectrum, ages 5-15 in classroom settings of 6-10 students. This is a full-time, 12-month school calendar position.

Under the supervision of the Head Teacher and the BCBA, the Assistant Teacher will provide instruction to students and help implement individualized curricular activities for each student. This individual will also support student learning through data collection on programs and progress toward goals.
