Location | Hybrid: On-site in Coral Gables, events throughout Miami, and remote administrative work

Work Schedule:

• Saturday Rehearsals
• 1 hr/week planning, administration, and communication
• Extra rehearsals, performances, and additional artistic planning meetings as scheduled.

Teaching Assistants are emerging music educators, conductors, and arts leaders who support the artistic and educational mission of Miami Children’s Chorus while developing their own skills through mentorship and hands‑on experience. MCC is committed to providing meaningful learning opportunities, feedback, and professional growth for developing educators through active participation in rehearsals, performances, and organizational programming.

Key Responsibilities:

Attend and actively participate in assigned rehearsals, including arriving early and staying until the room is reset and all choristers are picked up.

Assist the ensemble conductor with rehearsal preparation, classroom management, and instructional activities as assigned.

Support a positive, organized, and productive rehearsal environment.

Provide supervision and support for choristers before, during, and after rehearsals as needed.

Chorister engagement and development

Serve as a positive musical and personal role model for choristers.

Build supportive relationships with students and contribute to a welcoming ensemble culture.

Encourage student participation, confidence, and engagement throughout the rehearsal process.

Support the educational and artistic goals of the ensemble.

Artistic support

Assist with warm-ups, sectionals, music teaching, and other instructional activities as assigned by the ensemble conductor.

Support chorister learning through modeling, coaching, and individualized assistance.

Lead portions of rehearsals and instructional activities as assigned.

Conduct selected repertoire during rehearsals and performances as assigned.

Assist with performances, concerts, auditions, evaluations, and special events as needed.

Organizational support

Assist with rehearsal and performance logistics as assigned.

Support staff in creating a positive experience for choristers, families, guest artists, and audience members.

Contribute to the successful execution of organizational events and programs.

Professionalism and communication

Maintain timely and professional communication with conductors and staff.

Respond to organizational communications and scheduling requests within a reasonable timeframe.

Communicate proactively regarding absences, conflicts, and other issues that may affect assigned responsibilities.

Contribute to a collaborative, communicative, and supportive staff culture.

Participate in mentorship, training, and learning opportunities as available.

Receive and implement feedback from supervising conductors and artistic staff.

Engage in ongoing reflection and growth as a music educator and ensemble leader.

Demonstrate a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to the artistic life of the organization.
