Job description

Start: September

Full Time/Permanent

Salary: Step 3 – Step 6 (DOE)

Location: Romsey/Bartley

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive staff team within our Alternative Provision.

Our AP provides an adaptive and highly individualised full-school curriculum to young people who, for various reasons, are not yet ready to engage in a full-time school placement. They may be autistic, might have attachment difficulties, or have social, emotional, and mental health needs with associated challenging behaviours. Our teachers are supported to be adaptive and reactive to the needs of the young person while still maintaining high expectations of progress.

It is an exciting time to join the team, as the AP is in the process of becoming OFSTED registered, which will enable us to support our young people full-time, ensuring they receive the best support to progress to a suitable permanent school placement.

The AP operates across two sites, both located on farms. Our young people gain from access to excellent facilities, including extensive woodland, allotments, a watersport lake, and an indoor climbing wall, as well as high-quality indoor learning spaces. Our exceptionally small class sizes and high staff ratios enable us to provide highly individualised, targeted support.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have knowledge and experience working with children with SEN.
  • Have an exceptional ability to form positive relationships with young people to support them academically and emotionally.
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
  • Promote children's welfare and ensure the safeguarding of children by adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
  • Be able to support young people with following their behaviour plans and strategies.
  • Be proactive in matters of Health and Safety.
  • Communicate efficiently with the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, parents and external agencies as required.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate student records on a timely basis.
  • Ability to use initiative and creativity to solve problems.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Maths and English at GCSE or hold Level 2 Functional Skills.
  • Full UK driving licence, and be willing to drive as part of the role to facilitate off-site learning opportunities.

What can you expect of us?

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive induction training.
  • Regular in-house training for all staff to support their role.
  • Funded professional qualifications.
  • Recommend-a-friend
  • Discretionary Manager & Peer rewards – Amazon vouchers/monetary reward.
  • Company Sick Pay Scheme.
  • Workplace Pension Scheme.
  • Rewards Gateway benefit scheme.
  • On-site parking.
  • Enhanced DBS covered.

THE COMPANY IS UNABLE TO SPONSOR EMPLOYMENT OF INTERNATIONAL WORKERS IN THIS ROLE. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF YOUR RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK.

New Forest Care is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Children and Young People; applicants must be willing to undergo appropriate child protection screening, including employment references and DBS check.
